BACKGROUND...........
A reunion happens when one classmate starts wondering "whatever happened to..." and realizes, "gosh, it's coming up on 40 years already."  Those thoughts likely occurred to several of us, but one classmate also called for help and said, “let’s party!”

For the Class of 1967, that person was Malcolm (formerly Jerry) Jones.  For 1968 it was Tom & Sonni Herget.  You may know that Malcolm's sister Linda was also a member of '68 and the two shared many friends in both classes.  As a veteran of previous reunion committees, Malcolm realized how much effort goes into the planning.  Malcolm & Tom plus several others from both classes agreed to pool resources.   A joint committee met in November 2006 to kick off plans for a combined '67 & '68 reunion.

We now look forward to a big weekend in 2008 - September 19th & 20th - with
several opportunities to revisit our classmates, the school, and all those
memories from "way back when" - when our world was a very different place.

Come join us for a fun weekend!

FRIDAY, September 19th, 2008: _________________________________

Individual Class Get-Togethers

Because our Saturday night festivities will be held jointly, planners from both
classes agreed Friday night would provide an opportunity for classmates to find
each other more easily in smaller, separate venues.

Class of 1967 Get-Together
Starting at 7:00 p.m., The Lounge at Orchard Valley Golf Course, 2411 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora.

Directions: From the WAHS, head north on Randall to Illinois Ave., west (left) on Illinois just past the light at Orchard.  From I-88, take the Orchard exit and turn left from the stoplight on the ramp.  Proceed south to the stoplight at Illinois. Turn RIGHT (west), entrance is immediately on the right.
.

Note: As part of the Fox Valley Park District, Orchard Valley closes its doors at 10:30; last call is 10:55.  But those of us who are night-owls can party-on till midnight.

For more information click here (http://www.orchardvalleygolf.com/home/index.php) or call (630) 907-0600 for the restaurant/lounge or -0500 for the golf course/pro shop.

Class of 1968 Get-Together
Starting at 7:00 p.m., Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center
 732 Prairie Ave in Aurora

Directions: Head east on Prairie from Elmwood - Luigi's is just past the tracks on the
right.

West High Varsity Football
7:30 p.m. West Aurora High School.

Relive the excitement of a fall night game with other classmates from '67 and
'68.  See what has changed and what remains the same: the game, the uniforms,
the cheers, cheerleaders, pom squad, marching band, the antics of the
student body....

Our team will be facing Glenbard East High School, a fierce rival in the DuPage Valley Conference.  Check
http://athletics.sd129.org/ for more information and schedules of other fall
girls' and boys' sports of interest.

We will reserve an area in the stands (to be determined - watch this space).
With the information you provide on the Response Form, we'll know who to look
for and how large our area should be.

SATURDAY, September 20th, 2008: ______________________________

West Aurora High School Tour
 1:00 p.m. at Entrance #1.
Combined tours for Classes of 1967, 1968, and 1978

West High was under construction during our senior year, and didn't stop
growing.  School population is now around 3,000!  Come see how it's changed
while taking a "walk down memory lane."  Think you can find your old locker?
How about the English and math classes?  Consider how everything that transpired in these rooms and halls have impacted who we are today!

Other Ideas for your weekend: _______________________________

 Cruizin'

If you will be returning to Aurora after a few years' absence, try cruising
around just to note what has changed and what remains the same:

1.      Check out your old neighborhood, grade school, and junior high.  If you were from the west side of Aurora, you'll notice that Edgelawn is definitely no longer the edge of town - even Sans Souci and Washington Jr. High are surrounded with new subdivisions!

2.      Aurora College is now Aurora University, with an expanded campus that
has overtaken several houses and streets just north of Prairie.

3.      If you're from North Aurora, look what's happened to the cornfields
west of town - and you'll understand why WAHS had to grow so much!

4.      The shopping malls may still look familiar, although West Plaza has a
number of competitors along Galena Blvd, west toward the "new" Orchard Ave.
and north on Orchard to the tollway!  But you'll still recognize Northgate
Shopping Plaza - one of the nation's first malls.  Our "Big Boy" is gone, but
you may still recall some of the rendezvous that took place in those parking lots
along North Lake Street!  There are an "old Indian Trail" - our road - and
"Indian Trail," now missing its wicked curve at Elmwood.
