Barbara Gatewood (Draper) 07-12-2010

 

Barbara Jean Gatewood (Draper) Age 61, of White, GA, departed this life for a better existence on Monday, July 12, 2010. Barbara had suffered from Alzheimer's for over ten years. Born March 30, 1949 in Aurora Illinois, to Arnet and Wanoah Jean Draper, she attended and graduated from West Aurora High School in 1967. Barbara also attended Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove for a time. On January 18, 1969, Barbara married Michael Gatewood, to whom she committed the rest of her life. Barbara was an active member of the Church of Christ and spent her life in service to others. She was known as a godly woman and for her caring, meek, hospitable disposition. Barbara will be especially remembered for her contributions to her family, as a devoted, loving wife and mother. Barbara is survived by her husband Michael Gatewood; daughter, Dawn (Russ) Gatewood-Komp of Cartersville, Georgia; son, Brad (Janice) Gatewood of Acworth, Georgia; daughter, Melissa (Ricky) Roberson of Rydal, Georgia; sister, Peggy Johns of Oswego, Illinois; brother, Ron (Debbie) Draper of Indianapolis, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; and twelve nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Arnet and Wanoah Jean (Hatman) Draper and niece Kellie Jean Johns. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, July 17, at the Norman Medford Peden Funeral Home at 1408 Canton Hwy NE in Marietta, Georgia. Family friend, Keith Crews will officiate.
