Jim
Bowman 01-27-2022
James
“Jim” Bowman went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the age
of 72. Jim passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family, after years
of suffering from Parkinson’s disease. His battle with serious medical
conditions in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with
a smile. Despite the pain, Jim stayed strong until the very end.
As a child, Jim spent many years on U.S.
military bases scattered across the world. Jim’s father was a Naval officer who
would bring the entire family along whenever he was deployed. The importance of
family was instilled into Jim when he was a child, and it stuck with him for
the rest of his life.
Jim is survived by his wife Judy, son Derrick,
daughter-in-law Melony and grandchildren Katy and James, son Jeremy,
daughter-in-law Amber and grandson Hudson, son Justin, and daughter Tara
(Bowman) Mertz and son-in-law Michael. His younger brother John passed away two
years ago fighting the same battle with Parkinson’s. Jim is survived by his
sister Chery (Bowman) Worman and husband Doug,
brothers Tom Bowman, Mike Bowman and wife Diane, Pat Bowman and wife Cindi,
sister Kathy (Bowman) Hogan and husband Chip, and his brother John’s widow
Karen. They, along with 17 nieces and nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews,
all remain extremely close to this day.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.,
Sunday, January 30 at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos, with visitation
beginning at 1 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Brandon Hollar.
