John Patrick Milroy died Wednesday, April 27,
2016, at his home in Aurora. John was born on July 21, 1949, in Aurora; the son
of John Edward and Dorothy Hanson Milroy. John was preceded in death by his
mother and father, and also his brother, Mike. John is survived by his wife,
Sandra; his son, Daniel; daughter, Amy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins,
and devoted friends. John graduated from West Aurora High in 1967 and
Northwestern University in 1971, where he was elected to the All-Big Ten
baseball team. He served in the US Army after graduating from college,
receiving an honorable discharge in 1974. He completed his education with a
J.D. from the University of Denver in 1977. John began his legal career as a
trial attorney in 1977 for the Chicago and North Western Railroad, defending
the railroad in lawsuits from Circuit Court to the Illinois Supreme Court. He
traveled to China and the Soviet Union as counsel to an advisory committee for
the promotion of legal freedom. John worked at the North Western Railroad until
1990, shifting his career to private practice. He was admitted to the bar of
the Illinois Supreme Court, U.S. District Court, and the Federal Court of
Appeals. In his later years, John counted his clients among his closest
friends. John was a man of the world, rapturously discussing literature,
history, theology, and art. John practiced law as a synthesis of these
disciplines and as a means to defend truth. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels
Church at 10:00 AM. Fr. Michael Lavan will officiate
with interment at River Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday,
May 2, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a liturgical wake service at 7:00
