John E. Sheldon, age 69, of Aurora, IL, surrounded by his loving family, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Presence Mercy Hospital. He was born in Aurora, IL on June 30, 1949, the third son of Wilbur and Dorothy (Barnett) Sheldon. John was employed for 31 years at various positions at Caterpillar in Montgomery, IL. He was an avid gardener and loved working with his hands, teaching his sons, Jason and David, mechanics, home repair and gardening. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by his family and friends. John was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war. John is survived by his wife, Kathey (Scruggs) Sheldon of Aurora, IL.; his sons, Jason (Michelle) Sheldon and David Sheldon of Oswego, IL.; four grandchildren, Joshua, Autumn, Amanda and Kevin Sheldon. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Patricia) Sheldon and James Sheldon of Aurora, IL and Richard (Tanya) Sheldon of Alvarado, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert. A private family memorial service was held on October 8, 2018. A private interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
